When I was a business editor in Cambridge in the early 2010s, if anyone had told me that eight years later I would be working in a PR agency, I would have said they were mad. As a journalist, the typical ‘fluffy’ PR people were to be avoided at all costs.
Then six years ago – in a moment of madness – I took my first steps across to the ‘dark side’ of PR. I became PR and communications manager at the disruptive innovation company Cambridge Consultants. And I discovered that life was even more fun on the other side! Working with brilliant engineers and scientists to translate their groundbreaking technologies into compelling stories for the world’s media meant that every day was a fascinating journey of discovery.
But there was still no way I could ever consider working for a PR agency – that would be a step too far. I’m not cut out to be a ‘fluffy’ PR person.
Then FieldHouse Associates came along.
Definitely not fluffy. Not your typical PR agency. In fact, the team knows more about the innovation and investment ecosystem – and the key players in it – than many of their high-tech clients!
They were looking for a ‘good PR person’ in Cambridge to run the company’s new office in the heart of the technology cluster. A former colleague suggested they talk to me – and the rest is history…
As Director of FieldHouse Cambridge, I’ll now be working with even more world-class innovators in and around Cambridge to ensure their stories have an impact that helps them achieve their commercial objectives.
So if you’re looking for disruptive communications, let’s talk. Drop me a note at email@example.com.
