O2 TRIALS VIDEO MESSAGING SERVICE, O2 CLIP IT, POWERED BY SIX3

 

18 December 2013 – London: O2 and Six3 (http://six3.tv) today announced a public beta trial using O2 Clip It, a video messaging service, powered by Six3.

 

O2 Clip It is a free, mobile-centric, video communications service, open to anyone, regardless of network operator. It’s available to download from today on iOS and Android.

 

The service lets users film short video messages of up to 63 seconds long to share with friends via a UK mobile number, email address or privately to a Facebook inbox. 

 

Unlike other video messaging services, receivers don’t need to have the O2 Clip It app or even a smartphone as they can still view the videos via the mobile-optimised website. 

 

David Plumb, Digital Director at Telefonica UK commented: “We believe in bringing digital experiences to our customers so they can live a more rewarding life. O2 Clip It is a great example of how we're making this a reality. Research suggests there is a huge demand for video communications but people don’t want to be restricted to app-to-app or specific device or platform. With O2 Clip It, we’re trialling a video messaging service with customers first to learn whether there is an appetite to develop the service longer term.”

Six3 is a graduate of Telefonica’s Wayra Academy and selected as one of the first 16 winners in 2012, out of the 1,031 projects entered in to the programme and 31 finalists.
